The situation has been particularly bad for a lengthy period in Sweden, where transgressions have become the norm rather than the exception.

Climbers active within the Swedish Climbing Federation and their committees as well as climbers active within clubs as coaches amongst other, have on numerous occasions been flogged in public in an effort to bully them into submission, when there has been a clash of views and opinions related to different aspects of climbing.

Solna Climbing Club has had enough – the detrimental effect on climbers and climbing cannot be neglected anymore, this has to stop and we have taken a first step by reaching out to all climbers in Sweden some time ago.

Now we wish to include all climbers, as we are aware that the aforementioned transgressions aren’t limited to Sweden alone, far from it. So we urge you to take action to turn the tide, we kindly ask you to contact all companies that advertise on sites that have become “serial offenders”. Ask these companies the following;

- Do you want to support bullying, harassment and related offences, is this in line with your ethical standards?
- For you as a company to be linked to this kind of behavior, is this consistent with your CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) – policy

Companies today are much more conscious about their brand and consequently being linked to any misdemeanors’ what so ever. Hence we believe that it’s time for a change – help your fellow climbers to make that change.
